Under the supervision of Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, a graduation ceremony was held for the 15th cohort of students (Academic Year 2024–2025) of the University of Zakho at the Dalal Sports Stadium.

The event was attended by Dr. Amir Abdulrahman Ahmed, representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Guhdar Shekho, Head of Zakho Independent Administration; the presidents of universities in Duhok governorate; members of the Kurdistan and Iraqi parliaments; and a number of distinguished figures from political, private, and religious institutions.

The ceremony began with a warm welcome to the esteemed guests, followed by a solemn moment of silence in honor of the martyrs of Kurdistan, and a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an.

Several inspiring speeches were then delivered. Prof. Dr. Diyar Abdulkarim Said, President of the University of Zakho, welcomed all attendees and spoke about the university’s academic achievements and progress, expressing heartfelt hopes for the continuous success and advancement of both the graduates and the institution.

On behalf of the Ministry, Dr. Amir Abdulrahman Ahmed delivered a speech in which he extended congratulations to the graduates and their families. He also highlighted the ministry’s ongoing support for universities and students, offering valuable advice and guidance for the graduates, and wishing them success in their future endeavors.

Mr. Guhdar Shekho, Head of Zakho Independent Administration, also addressed the audience, congratulating the graduates and emphasizing the importance of coordination and cooperation between the University of Zakho and government sectors. He proudly stated: “The progress achieved in Zakho and its university brings joy to all of Kurdistan.”

The graduates then took the oath, received their certificates, and celebrated their accomplishments. The representative of the graduates expressed gratitude to the presidency of the university and its professors for their dedicated efforts in providing them with knowledge over the years.

The graduation was formally declared by Prof. Dr. Ramadhan Jaafar Mustafa, Assistant to the President for Student Affairs. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Nofal Rashid Hussein, Dean of the College of Medicine, gave a special address to the graduates. Afterwards, the faculties and colleges officially submitted the names of graduates, and the President of the University awarded them their degrees.

In this grand and scientific gathering, the University of Zakho conveyed its warmest and most heartfelt congratulations to the 15th graduating class, with hopes that the world will witness the fruitful outcomes of their achievements.
